Pooches in the Pearl
Wednesday, May 5th, 2010
May 22, 2010 our first annual Pooches in the Pearl event will take place from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. The venue is being generously donated by Hoyt Street Properties. The enclosed space of the Encore (941 NW Overton St.) adjacent to the Fields Park will be the home for our Saturday School for the pups and the owners. Our theme this year is education. We want to educate dog owners in the neighborhood to be responsible with their dogs while caring for our community. There will be fun events to keep people interested and great local dog related businesses represented. The following vendors are scheduled to appear:
Good Neighbor Vet : ~ Health Class
Offering low cost vaccinations including rabbi shots
Multnomah County: ~ Business Law
They will be on site offering licensing and information
Wonder Puppy: ~ Pre-school
LexiDog: ~ Social Studies
Urban Fauna: ~ History
Pearl Animal Hospital: ~ Canine Biology
Cupcake Jones: ~ Home Ec
DogStar: ~ Adoptology
Dove Lewis: ~ Med School
Super Dog: ~ Lunch
Recess in the pearl: ~ Recess
Friends of the Fields: ~ Environmental Science

Spot Magazine: ~ P.E.
The premise of the event is to have each vendor bring an educational element. For instance, Urban Fauna will be offering “History” and they will explain the history of breeds and how to choose the right dog for you. Friends of the Fields will explain how “Environmental Science” of a properly built dog park will benefit not only dog exercising but also the owner and the community.
