Steven started his retail furniture career at the ripe age of 6 under his father’s watchful eye.  Over the years he taught Steve everything he knows about retail. Retail is in his blood.  He first tried his hand at wholesale when the waterbed business was booming, and then moved on to become an associate rep working with Spring Air, Best Chair, Ashley and England Corsair calling on home furnishings retailers of all sizes throughout through out Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska and Hawaii.

In 1992 Steve’s wife “allowed” him to start BedMart with $10,000 in “Portland’s ugliest building”. She said that when Steve lost that money…he could go get a real job. Fortunately, he never lost the first 10,000 and Steve has since grown BedMart to 19 stores and 60 employees in Oregon and SW Washington.

Steve and Sherry have been married for almost 24 years and have three great kids.  Bedmart is also proud to have been the sponsor of Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s “Sleep In for the Cure” in Portland, Oregon for over 3 years.
