Adam Berger
Adam Berger was born and raised in New Jersey and graduated from New York University with a degree in marketing and international business. After working briefly in the investment business, Adam eventually moved to Arizona where he attended Scottsdale Culinary Institute. Graduating with a Culinary Arts degree in 1996, Adam then moved to Italy as part of a culinary educational program. After two months of school in Barolo, he worked in 4 different restaurants in the regions of Piedmonte and Tuscany. He returned to New York briefly, then moved to Gustavus, Alaska to cook in a lodge for the summer. From there, Adam moved to Portland, where he began working at Genoa, then Serratto, where he became the executive chef. In 2002, he decided to his build his own restaurant and in May 2003, Tabla opened its doors. With the success of Tabla, Adam decided to expand across the river and in November 2006, Ten 01 opened at 10th & Couch in the Pearl District.
Three years later, Adam continues to work at both restaurants every day, but has time to look outside his business to the community. In addition to sitting on the Board of the Pearl District Business Association, Adam is on the Board of Travel Portland and is the Chair of the Community Action Committee. Adam also is involved with many charitable organizations such as Morrison Child Services, March of Dimes, Children’s Cancer Association, Make-a-Wish Foundation, and Salud.
